Always And Forever A Dancer
Gray And Gold
Hi scrappers! This was officially my last layout of January, although it’s taken me a few days to get this post up! These photos were taken at a wedding this past summer and I loved the sparkly dress I wore. However, it shed copious amounts of glitter everywhere I went. I ordered it offline and didn’t realize how much of a mess it would make. It was an explosion of glitter when I opened the bag. I had glitter in my hair and on my body for days after the event. It’s been over six months since I wore the dress and I still find the occasional sequin or glitter speck in my house somewhere.
I was quite excited to use the gray ballerina paper by Karen Foster Designs. I’ve easily had this paper for fifteen years and didn’t know when I would ever use it. I was a dancer for a large portion of my life but it’s been a long time since I have been in a dance class or performance. I wasn’t sure if I would ever have an occasion to use this paper. These photos however, not only went well with the gray color, but I feel show my dance background in the way I move.
I paired this paper with some gray cardstock from the DCWV Neutrals stack to give it some extra structure. From there, I used some Champagne Gold Stencil Butter with a mini stencil, both by The Crafter’s Workshop to add some texture to the right side of the page. Some gray and gold paper from Pink Paislee’s Auburn Lane 6 X 8 stack made a nice photo mat for my images. I added golden stickers from the American Crafts Crate Paper Journal Studio sticker book and used a Fiskars squeeze punch to create the tags for my letters. I strung them on some old elastic I had and used some Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers to make my title. I used a lace die cut from 49 and Market’s Vintage Artistry Essentials collection and on a whim, put some metallic gold washi tape beneath it so it would shine through all the lace details. Some paper and lace flowers by Jolee’s Boutique finish the page.
This page was created for Sketches in Thyme’s sketch #550. I loved the little pennant flags in the bottom corner and definitely wanted to integrate that into my own layout. I chose to use the lace die cut because it also had a scalloped edge like the sketch. Instead of paint splatters on the background, I used texture paste and a stencil to create background details.
This page was also created for A Cherry on Top Craft’s January mood board. I was inspired by flowers, lace and crystals featured in the mood board but also by the pretty sparkly dresses. It seemed the perfect choice for the photos I had!
That’s all for this week. I will be back with my first February sketch. See you all soon!
