Don’t Let The Silly Little Things Steal Your Happiness

Black & White & Neon Pink

Hi scrappers! Welcome back! Last week I brought you kraft and red. This week it’s all about pink! I must confess, pink is not my favorite color. (I’m more partial to purple actually.) However, I absolutely love the abundant (dare I say, obnoxious?) use of bright pink on this layout. It picks up some of the colors in my dress and pairs so nicely with the black and white elements. I was amazed at how many things I had in my stash that were this aggressive color. It made for a very striking page to pull them all into one layout.

I started with some basic white cardstock from The Paper Studio’s Bright stack. This is good quality stuff that is thick and textured. Highly recommend. I paired this with some neon pink paper from The Paper Studio’s Entirely Textures stack. This paper is actually very thin and is a little too flimsy to serve as a base paper on it’s own, which is why I matted it with something thicker. I used some hot pink paper from DCWV’s Spring Cardstock stack along with some black and white paper to triple mat my photo. I then created a collage of black and white paper scraps. This is one more example of why you should always save your scraps!

I colored in some of the letters on the printed paper with an Art-I-San acrylic pain marker. I picked up a few packs of these on clearance and wasn’t sure I was every going to use them, but I cracked a set open for the first time on this page. The color matched with my background paper almost perfectly and really helped tie the whole page together, plus, I found colored super cathartic. I haven’t colored in ages!

I used some paper flowers and brads, both by Recollections along with some Shimelle and Create 365 Rainbow stickers. I added in a few stickers from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Small talk collection and a Vicki Boutin die cut frame. The bottom right corner of my photo was a little bent up, so I hid it with a big bow. Nobody would ever know when looking at the final page.

This page was created for the Challenge Yourself October challenge. The challenge this month was to create a black and white layout plus one color. I obviously chose the color pink and it really stole the show. I love how the color pairs both with my photo and black and white.

This page was also created for a layout challenge at Cherry on Top. I love this store and all the amazing products they sell. This is the first time I’ve participated in on of their challenged. I love their sketch but I ended up taking it in a very non-spooky direction.

That’s all for this time. Thank you for stopping by and have a safe and spooky Halloween! For more Scrap Attack content, you can find me on YouTube and Instagram @thescrapattack
