Among The Wildflowers

Purple Florals

Hi everyone! This week I created a page with lots of florals. The pictures were taken earlier this year after record rains in California and weeks later, record amounts of wildflowers followed.I took this selfie while surrounded in a field of little purple and yellow flowers. There were so many different kinds, many which I’d never seen before!

I actually started with a scrap of washi tape that was sent as a sample when I ordered a batch of tapes from London Gifties. I knew I wanted to use this in my project somewhere and built the page around it. I pasted it on some plain white paper to make sure the colors and contrast really showed through and used a corner rounder punch on the corners. I found some cardstock in deep purple and then cut an 8 1/2 X 11” piece of lavender leaf paper from the Sara Papers stack by Paper Pizazz. I had a scrap of Thumbnail paper from the Vicki Boutin Color Study collection. The purple and pink color swatches worked really well with the color palette of my page. I added some flower-patterned washi strips by 49 and Market and several stickers from the Pressed Florals sticker book by The Happy Planner. I added both puffy stickers and decorative brads from Echo Park Paper Company’s New Day collection and created my title from Double Takes alpha stickers by Doodle Bug. As usual, I used enamel dots by Simple Stories and The Paper Studio to finish.

This page was created using sketch 279 from Sketch N Scrap. I used two vertical photos instead of a vertical and a horizontal but replicated the spray pattern on the background by using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Spray in Saltwater Taffy. I’m not sure if it’s the spray pump or user error but I kept getting big drips all over my paper. Good thing I ended up covering up most of the mess.

This page was also created for the August Book Lover’s challenge at A Cherry on Top Crafts. The challenge was to build a page by numbers inspired by the themes of the book:

Numbers play a significant role in Ruby’s life, so for Option 2, we’ll build a page by the numbers. Your page must have the following:

  • 1 best friend who stands by Ruby through everything = 1 solid-colored cardstock background page

  • 2 people in Ruby’s life with diabetes = 2 photos on your layout (ONLY two photos, NOT “AT LEAST” two photos)

  • 3 murders she’s actually committed = 3-word title

  • 4 murders she’s accused of committing = 4 patterned papers

  • 5 at the end of each age Ruby was when she committed the murders (5 yo, 15 yo, 25 yo) = 5 of the same embellishment (ie: 5 hearts, 5 stars, 5 paw prints, etc.)

That’s all for this week! I will be back soon with yet another page. Keep on scrapping everyone!
