Stars And Stripes

Hi scrappers! This page features my husband and one of our cats taking a nap. This is very common and I often find them curled up together like this! I’m not much of a napper myself since I feel like I wake up groggier and crankier than before I laid down! My husband however swears by them and apparently, so does our cat. They always look so cute and cozy so this time, I snapped a picture.

I chose a pretty piece of star print paper from DCWV’s Stardust stack. This set the tone for all the other planet and constellation-themed items I chose to use. I used a scrap of vellum and a scrap of striped paper you may recognize from my Nautical Nonsense page a few weeks back. I finally cracked open some star-themed washi I had and added a large strip of it. This also helped stick down the vellum. I used another roll of holographic constellation washi across the top since it matched in both color and theme and cut up a scrap of old lace. I like that the off-white color ties in with the newsprint washi. I finally opened up some circular wooden embellishments by The Paper Studio and added a globe by Jolee’s Boutique. A sprinkling of mini buttons and various circular washi stickers complete the page.

This page was made using Becky Fleck sketch 343 over at A Cherry on Top Crafts. I really liked all the little button embellishments and knew I wanted to replicate that on my page. I happened to have some buttons that were very similar but all mixed in some other circular stickers. I used one big photo instead of two smaller ones and substituted a globe for fruits. I also added the washi as an additional element since it was too perfect not to add to this page!

This page was also made for the September Book Lover’s challenge. The challenge was to create a page where the subject was sleeping. I also used the book cover as inspiration for my color palette and it also led me to incorporate stars into my page.

That’s all for this week. Thank you so much for visiting and I can’t wait to be back soon with another page!
