Color Dare Design Team Challenge 724

Just Relax

Yellow + Green + Gray

Hi scrappers! I’m back with Color Dare for a sunny color challenge involving yellow and an additional color of choice. I chose to use some newly printed photos from a recent trip to Hawaii. These were taken in a park in Honolulu.

I chose a piece of yellow, gray, and green paper that had an oversized floral pattern. For my background, I used a piece of solid gray paper by American Crafts because I knew it would be a nice contrast against the yellow and green.

I used a sponge covered in cellophane and some gray spray ink to break up the solid cardstock a little bit. In retrospect, I probably should have gone in with some lighter paint too for contrast because the gray ink on the gray paper is really subtle.

I knew I wanted to fussy cut out some of the flowers from my paper as additional embellishments. I cut some skinny strips and spaced them apart and slightly offset behind my photos and then cut various flowers from the scraps I had left. After gluing down the flowers, I used a stencil and stencil butter from The Crafter’s Workshop and aded some hexagon print to the page, avoiding covering most of my flowers.

I then used some tag dies by Arden with some paper scraps to make some additional embellishments. I built little clusters using these tags, heart ephemera by Simple Stories, paper flowers by Prima, stickers by Crate Paper, and enamel dots by Altenew.

Join us at Color Dare for the newest challenge involving shades of yellow and your choice of an additional color. I chose green1 Show us what you chose and what you made!

This page was made using the October sketch from Stick It Down. I tried to replicate the hexagon details using a similar stencil, but I layered it over the top of my paper strips rather than underneath so my strips and fussy cut flowers would lay flat.

That’s all for this week. If you’re looking for an additional paper crafting challenge, join me for the Taylor Swift-themed one I host here.
