Color Dare Design Team Challenge 712

Never Stop Dreaming

Strawberry Fields

Hi scrappers and welcome to July! I’m back with Color Dare for challenge #712 featuring shades of red, navy and olive green. I chose to scrap a picture of my cat Europa who was extremely invested in what I was eating and was trying to convince me that I should share.

I used some basic blue cardstock as my background since I knew it would contrast nicely with the strawberry paper by P13 I knew I wanted to use. I cut the strawberry paper in half and used it on the bottom of the page, but used the reverse site of the paper as a mat for my photo along with some other paper scraps and a wood grain frame from 49 and Market.

On the top half of my background paper I used a plaid stencil by Stampers Anonymous and some Crimson Stencil Butter by The Crafter’s Workshop add some mixed media elements. I thought plaid and strawberries would go well together, like a picnic! This part took forever since I had to stencil in sections and then wait for each one to dry.

Embellishments were pretty minimal since the paper and stencil already made the layout pretty busy. I added tags, ephemera and paper finds from the same Into the Woods collection and some colorful leaves by 49 and Market. I added some glittery brads in the tags for some sparkle.

This page was made for the weekly sketch challenge at A Cherry on Top Crafts. Rather than Stars and Stripes, I used strawberries and plaid and used a smaller photo than the original sketch.

That’s all for this week. Thank you for joining me. Looking for an additional paper craft challenge to participate in? Check out the Taylor Swift-themed one I host here.
