Paper Scraps And Washi

Hi everyone. I am back with Lasting memories for the final week of their August challenges. For this layout, I used a photo of my cat Europa who likes to hang out with me when I am playing video games.

This page was a case of trust the process. It’s the first time in a while I made a page without a defined color palette and the whole time I was making this page I was wondering if I would regret that choice. I honestly wasn’t liking how it was turning out until the very end when it all came together, and it allowed me to be a little freer in the elements I added since they didn’t have to be a specific color.

I started with some pale blue cardstock by American Crafts and used it as my background. All other paper used is out of my scraps stash with a majority of them being branding strips that I was finally able to put to use. I found a scrap of white paper and placed some Pac Man washi by Kimono Tape over it so the colors would stay bright and bold. I used three of these strips to tie in with the gaming theme of this page.

I added some neutral lined/grid-patterned tags by 7 Gypsies and 49 and Market and built clusters on top of them with gemstone flowers by The Paper Studio and some kitty sticker ribbon I picked up at Daiso. I found the perfect pink Playstation controller stickers in a pack made by an unknown company. They even say Sony on them. So cute! Even though it’s mostly out of frame, the controller I am holding in the photo is a PS5 controller so this worked super well. I ties some bows in navy blue string and affixed them with some brads by Recollections. I finished up a pack of enamel dots by Simple Stories because I didn’t have to worry about matching colors exactly.

I have always been a homebody (all my crafting stuff is there!) and also enjoy reading and gaming at home. My two cats also live here which makes my house my favorite place to be!
