Shakers, Stencils And Ephemera

Hi scrappers! It’s definitely starting to feel like summer here in California. This week I bring you a page that’s all about summer! This photo was taken in Hawaii a year or two ago. The water was so warm and clear! (Not like California at all since you need a wetsuit most of the time and the water is so cloudy.) I love how all the teals, blues and pinkish-purples work together on this page and the assorted beachy ephemera really bring the feel of summer!

I started with some teal arrow-print paper from the Summer Dream stack by Craft Smith. I had a large scrap of water print paper in my scrap stash that matched my photo perfectly. To add some texture to my background, I used a Well Rounded stencil by The Crafters Workshop and used stencil paste in Gamboge, Fuchsia and Orchid to make some variegated circles. I found a piece of sparkly blue paper that reminds me of the sun reflecting on the water and used it as a mat for my photo. I used some ephemera from Simple Stories Simple Vintage Coastal collection as part of my title. Check out the shaker kit by Sizzix which I got in my Cherry Box this month from A Cherry on Top Crafts. I filled it with some Sizzix silver sequins and some shell ephemera from Mintay’s Sunset Beach collection. I received some complimentary diecut frames as well that would cut out a frame to perfectly fit over the shakers, but didn’t have the corresponding Sizzix machine to use them. I finally broke down and purchased a Big Shot. It’s not here yet but I’m so excited to try it out when it is! I scattered some more Sizzix sparkles around the page and glued them down with Elmers Craft Bond glue.

This page was created for the Challenge Yourself June challenge which was a very peachy mood board. I tried to work in just about every element from the bicycle, to pebbles to feathers. I love how the inspiration pic inspired me to bring all of these elements together in the ultimate summer page!

This page was also made for A Cherry on Top’s Becky Fleck 281 challenge. I added in a shaker and found that my circular stencil was perfect for replicating the embellishment in the sketch.

That’s all for this week. Thank you for visiting and I will see you next time!
