Guest Designer Challenge

Nautical Nonsense

Boat Memories And Nautical Ephemera

Hi scrappers! This week am thrilled to announce that I was a guest designer for the month over at Color, Stories, Inspiration. For this layout, I used some photos taken on a boat during a trip to Bimini, Bahamas. I snapped some silly selfies of my husband and I and this seemed like a great set of photos to use for in a nautical layout.

I used some brown woodgrain paper from Paper Studio’s Dendrology stack as my background and mounted it to some basic brown cardstock from DCWV’s Neutral Cardstock stack. I cut down some abstract blue striped paper from the Eclectic Remix stack, also by The Paper Studio and added in some compass print fabric a from the On the Road Junk Journal Goodies pack by 7 Gypsies. Most of my embellishments came from the Tim Coffey Travel Die Cut pack by K & Company and Cape Cod Cardstock Stickers by The Paper Studio. From there, I added a few buttons and enamel dots from Simple Stories Color Vibe Fall, Winter and Basics packs.

As I said earlier, CSI was kind enough to invite me to guest design for the month of August. I used the following “evidence” as inspiration form page:

  • Stripes

  • Woodgrain

  • Nautical-Themed Elements

  • Boat

  • Buttons

  • Envelopes

  • Circles

  • Fish/Seagulls/Seashells

I also put some of my decorative elements into an envelope like the inspiration photo.

I also used an old Becky Fleck sketch for this page just so I would have something to reference. I actually used this sketch previously but the two pages turned outlooking nothing alike. I love how different I can make two pages, even when starting from the same sketch.

That’s all for now. Thank you for visiting and I will see you soon!
