Love This Life
Tropical Teal And Green
Hi everyone! It has been hot and humid where I live which reminds me of the tropical trip I took to Fiji last year. We stayed the island of Vanua Levu at a dive resort, so we spent lots of time on on a boat in beautiful waters. These pictures don’t even do the natural beauty there justice!
I used some basic white cardstock by American Crafts. I like the textured stuff because it feels like better paper to me and I like the subtle pattern that it adds. I used several colors of acrylic paint and added some color around where I knew my photos would go. I also found two pieces of green tule in my stash that reminded me a little fishing net, so I tore them up a little bit and placed them behind my photos.
I used various green and teal paper scraps to make multi-layered photo mats and then used additional paper scraps and some Tim Holtz Garden Greens dies to add some botanicals around the edges of my photos where they would fit. I also hand-painted some chipboard pieces by Mintay Papers to match my color palette and his most of the edges with some paper flowers by The Paper Studio. I used the last of some sea turtle stickers by Jolees and 4 big green rhinestones by Bo Bunny. I sprinkled in a few teal chipboard stickers by Echo Park Paper and a title sticker from a Momenta sticker sheet. Lastly, I added some big stenciled patches using the Swirly Contrary stencil by Aall & Create with some Spring Mint Glossy Glaze that gives a shiny, slightly transparent finish.
I used sketch 442 from A Cherry on Top Craft’s weekly sketch challenge. I liked how the sketch plays with negative space and knew it was a perfect case house a stencil. I tried to tape off a perfect square to fill in with my stenciled design but quickly abandoned that and decided just to eyeball it instead!
This page also qualifies for Challenge Yourself challenge #140. I definitely used stencils here and it’s rare I add such big chunks of stenciling!
Lastly, this page was made using this beautiful moodboard from White…with 1. Since this challenge community is based in the Southern hemisphere, they are just starting Spring where they are. The challenge was to pick 2 of the colors on the moodboard and add flowers. I chose teal and green because it matched my photos so well. Also incorporated some succulent-print paper to match one of the inspiration pictures but you can’t really tell since I layered so much stuff on top of it.
That’s all for this week. I’m excited to make more September pages! Join me for a Taylor Swift themed paper crafting challenge here where we have been having a ton of fun!
