Color Dare Design Team Challenge 710

Best Hike Ever

Teal, Violet And Shades Of Green

Hi scrappers! I’m back with Color Dare with a new color palette challenge. I used a picture taken at Big Sur at the famous McWay Falls. I chose it because it had cool, bluish undertones which matched the color palette I was working with.

To be fair, even though I made the title for this page Best Hike Ever, the “hike consists of a short walk from where we parked on the road. Maybe that’s why it’s the best hike ever? The effort versus payoff is huge!

I used some teal cardstock by DCWV as my background paper. It’s nice and thick and held up well without buckling when I added so watered down inks by Stamperia and Ranger. I used the technique of covering a kitchen sponge in cling wrap before applying my inks so they wouldn’t all absorb into the sponge.

I cut down a 12 X 12 piece of Multi Blue Watercolor paper by Recollections and used the polka dot side for the rectangle behind my photo. I used the reverse side which was a soft watercolor print for a 12 X 3 stripe that bisects the page. Nearly all my embellishments are by 49 and Market, including chipboard, laser cut elements, ephemera, and fabric tape from the Viken collection, a filmstrip and laser cut elements from the Color Swatch Lavender collection, and one floral element from the Spectrum Gardenia collection. My title comes from the Nature Study Chipboard Words pack and I added the lantern chipboard piece by Stamperia and some enamel dots to finish. These enamel dots are matte and look sort of velvety, which is a really cool finish instead of the normal glossy dots I usually see.

Join us at Color Dare by creating a paper project with at least 3 of the 4 colors above. Teal and purple are my favorite colors so this challenge was really fun for me!

This page was created for the June Cherry Lift challenge and I chose the layout by hsblair above to lift. I used a doily instead of a paper circle because I absolutely cannot freehand cut a circle and didn’t have a die big enough for the right sized circle.

That’s all for this week! Thank you for visiting and I will be back soon for one more page in July.
