Color Dare Design Team Challenge 714
Sky’s The Limit
Desert Glitz
Hi scrappers! I return this week with another Color Dare challenge. Read on to find out more about it and how to play!
I used photos that were taken a few years ago in Borrego State Park which is on the Western edge of the Mojave. My husband took some unique photos of me in the shade of some ocotillo plants. I often match the color palette of my photos to the layout I make, but this time I matched the theme instead.
I used a piece of cactus-print paper from the Desert Bloom stack by Recollections as my background. The subtle print features all kinds of different cacti which is perfect for my page.
I then used a stencil by Vicki Boutin and cracked open a new container of Cosmo Glaze in the shade Coastal Mint to add some sparkly mixed media details to the corners of my page. I didn’t realize there were holographic chunks in this texture paste as well as fine glitter in multiple colors so the stenciled designs will reflect different colors depending on the light.
To create an eclectic mat behind my photos, I used various paper scraps and layered them at haphazard angles. I also used some paper scraps in combination with a Winter Garland die by Sizzix to make some circular elements that I glue down beneath all of my paper scraps.
From there, I embellished with some 49 and Market laser cut elements (I am loving the Curiosities in Willow Grove collection lately!) some Golden Desert ephemera by Prima, Floral Spice ephemera by Bo Bunny, and some chunky rhinestones by Molossi.
Join us for Color Dare challenge 714 and make a paper project using at least 2 of the 3 colors above. I used all three in mine along with some white and shades of tan and brown.
I used the July Rochelle Spears sketch to make this page, but made a few changes such as where the title is and how many photos I used.
I combined this with Stacey Harper Watson’s Tic Tac Tow challenge, using the diagonal line of Mixed Media, 4 + Patterned Papers, and Hearts.
That’s all for this week. This may be my last layout for July since I am taking a much needed vacation. If I don’t squeeze in another page before the end of the month, I will see you all in August!
