Color Dare Design Team Challenge 682
Blackout
Ultramarine, Magenta And Yellow
Hi scrappers! I’m back with Color Dare for an all new challenge. The photos I used were taken many years ago at a pop-up interactive art exhibition in Los Angeles called Flutter Experience. This room in the exhibit was lit solely by blacklight so the designs on the wall glowed bright. I took these unique selfies and matched my page background to the blue color in the photos.
Usually I don’t have a problem finding any color paper I want in my stash, but this particular shade of blue gave me a hard time. I did manage to find this damask print paper by DCWV and used it as my background. I then used some Sweet Talk paper by Vicki Boutin. The floral side is so bright and busy that I wasn’t sure if I would ever use it, but I cut a 3 1/2 inch strip to display floral-side up and then cut a rectangle to display yellow-side up behind my photo. I found a piece of deep blue vellum and used it to mat my photos, using a corner rounder punch on both the photos and the mats. A piece of Dylusions washi over some white cardstock made a nice pink and yellow border.
The title was made using the negative image from Tim Holtz’s Alphanumeric Shadow Upper dies and the quote on my tag is a sticker from The Happy Planner’s Quote sticker book. Since the colors and patterns used were already so bold, I only embellished with a few items, including some flowers I fussy cut from the patterned paper, some adhesive gemstones by Honey Bee Stamps, and some butterflies by Aall and Create.
Join us at Color Dare and create a project using the two colors above plus one more of your choice! I added yellow to my page. Show us yours!
This page was made using the sketch from this month’s Sketch with a Twist challenge at A Cherry on Top Crafts. The twist was to use 2 tags which was pretty simple considering they were already built into the sketch. I used some sparkly indigo fiber and fuzzy brads with my tags and added in a sticker in place of the third photo.
Lastly, this page was made for the December 2025 Book Lovers challenge. This month was inspired by Lin-Manual Miranda’s biography and the challenge was to use one of his song titles as a page title. I chose Blackout from In the Heights since it matched my photos so well!
That’s all for this week! Thank you for visiting and I hop you’ll join me again soon for another scrapbook page breakdown.
