Scrapbook Challenge
The Little Things Are Often The Biggest Things
The Opposite Of Minimalism
Hi scrappers! This week I made a page featuring both of my cats who were sunning themselves on the patio. They love to hang out there, soak up the sun and watch the world go by. What a life!
Used a ton of odds and ends on this page, even more than usual. In fact, the final page turned out so busy that I consider this a pretty maximalist page, even for me!
I started with some floral paper from a very old Colorbok kit with papers and stickers featuring Flower Fairies from Cicely Mary Barker’s 1923 book of illustrations. I’ve had this kit since the early 2000’s when I started scrapbooking so I doubt it is still in print. I combined a 8 X 8 piece of pink cardstock by DCWV with a 6 X 8 piece of grid paper from Pink Paislee’s Auburn Lane stack. I double-matted my photos with paper scraps and then framed my pink cardstock with a border from a sticker sheet that was included with the 12 X 12 paper pack.
I layered some golden mesh washi over some skinny paper scraps to make some accent stripes, and then proceeded to take on or two pieces of ephemera out of a bunch of ephemera packs including The Plant Department and Fruit Paradise by Prima Marketing, Botanical Journal Brads by Bo Bunny, and Peony Garden die cuts by Minty Papers. I also added in a few floral print wooden buttons too.
This page was made for July’s Say Yes to the Dress challenge where the theme was colorful wedding dresses! I chose the one above and made a page inspired by it. I obviously incorporated pink as well as florals to match the embellishments on the bodice. Since I think the bride looks like a fairy princess, I added a fairy to my layout too.
I used sketch 667 from Sketches in Thyme. I liked the detail of 3 stripes along the bottom which I replicated by used some gold grid washi over the top of some paper scraps. It also had built in embellishment clusters which I almost always add to my pages.
That’s it for my first page of July! If you are looking for another paper crafting challenge to participate in, consider the one I host here which is Taylor Swift themed. This month we are playing with text prints as page backgrounds!
